Beatroute Arts – Support Worker

Beatroute Arts seeks an engaging, caring person to join our team to support our Allsorts Healthy Minds project as a Support Worker. We are looking for someone able to support adults with varying additional support needs taking part in practical activities focused on improving mental and physical health.

Beatroute Arts is a community led music and arts charity operating in Balornock, in the North East of Glasgow. Our programmes support young people and adults to take part in free creative and holistic activities with an aim of improving quality of life and free learning provision in an area sited as being within the 10% most impoverished regions in Scotland (SIMD Analysis 2016).

Beatroute Allsorts is a self named group of adults with a variety of support needs who meet at the centre to take part in a range of creative and holistic activities across Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This role involves supporting the Wednesday sessions, our Healthy Minds group. This group focuses on supporting adults with additional support needs to learn practical life skills and methods which encourage them to make healthier, more informed lifestyle choices. Activities focus on gentle exercise (yoga) and healthy eating (practical cookery workshops). We are looking for someone to work alongside our specialist tutors and Community Engagement Worker to bring warmth and positive energy to the group and support them in their activities. The successful candidate will be self starting and able to use initiative to keep sessions running smoothly and participants happy. The successful candidate will preferably have experience of working with people with additional support needs, or be able to evidence these skills.

The role will start on Wednesday 22 April. The Allsorts Healthy Minds sessions take place weekly on Wednesdays, initially up until October with the possibility of extension depending on funding. The Support Worker is required for 5 hours each week, most likely from 10.30am – 3.30pm. Please note this may shift slightly earlier depending on the needs of the group.

This is a freelance role and the rate of pay is £13.45p/h.
